Why install a backflow preventer
A backflow preventer protects your drinking water system from contaminated water flowing back into it. Many municipalities require one, especially during renovations or for commercial and multi-unit buildings.
The risk comes from a pressure drop on the municipal network - during a water main break or hydrant use, for example - which can pull water backwards out of your building. The device blocks that reverse flow.
How the visit works
We first locate the water service entry, the main valve and the space available around them. We confirm which device is required for your building's use, then schedule a short water shutdown to cut the supply, adapt the piping and fit the device with its isolation valves and test access.
Meter installation follows the same logic: preparing the pipe section, setting the meter, connecting it, restoring pressure and checking for leaks.
What affects the scope of the work
Available space in the mechanical room, the height of the service entry, the existing pipe material, the required diameter and the clearance needed for future testing all determine labour time. In a multi-unit building or a business, the water shutdown also has to be planned with the occupants.
Water meters
We install and connect water meters in accordance with municipal requirements, adapting the water service entry and piping as needed.
When it counts as an emergency
A device discharging water continuously, a leak at the meter connection, or a municipal notice requiring immediate correction all call for a fast response. A code upgrade planned as part of a renovation is booked as a regular appointment.
After the installation
We restore the water, purge air from the lines, verify pressure and joint tightness, and leave the installation accessible for the annual testing some municipalities require. You receive a detailed invoice describing the device installed.
